I had the chance to grab lunch with Micah from Cigars Limited recently, and we checked out a local BBQ spot that had been getting a lot of buzz. My first piece of advice? Be prepared to hunt for a parking spot. It wasn't exactly easy to find one, but once we got inside, it became pretty clear why the place stays busy.
The brisket was incredibly tender and flavorful, exactly what you hope for when you order Texas-style BBQ. The pulled pork was equally impressive, juicy and packed with smoky goodness. Even the sides held their own, with a rich and creamy mac and cheese that complemented the meat perfectly.
Of course, the menu item everyone talks about is the Texas Twinkie, and now I understand why. Imagine a jalapeño popper stuffed with cream cheese and brisket, then wrapped in bacon and smoked to perfection. It's one of those creations that sounds over-the-top until you take a bite and realize it's actually genius.
We had every intention of trying the peach cobbler for dessert, but after working our way through the barbecue spread, there simply wasn't any room left. That's definitely on the list for the next visit.
Before heading out, we couldn't resist grabbing a few frozen brisket burgers to take home and try later.
One final detail that made me smile: they have a Texas phone number. It's a small thing, but somehow it just adds to the authenticity.
If you're a fan of great barbecue, this place is absolutely worth the trip. Just come hungry, and maybe save room for the cobbler.
